anjo is a citizen and legislator of the South Pacific, having joined the region in January 2020. He has served as the 5th and last Secretary of the Office of World Assembly Legislation as well as the 1st and 5th Director of OWL; he also served as Chair of the Assembly for two terms. Currently, anjo is serving a term as Delegate of the South Pacific and is a member of the South Pacific Coral Guard and the Legislator Committee. In the Executive, he is active as ambassador from the South Pacific to the Free Nations Region for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, senior staff member of OWL, and Writing Team member of the Ministry of Engagement. His Discord handle is anjo#3888.

NationStates

anjo's main nation is Tepertopia, which was founded on December 15, 2019. Since January 20, 2020, Tepertopia resides in the South Pacific. His ambassadorial nation to the Free Nations Region is Free Tepertopia; besides those, he owns or has access to a further 16 nations, most of which are located in his puppet storage region United Protectorate of Tepertopia.[1]

Issues

anjo briefly tried his hand at Issues-authoring in mid-2020, but remained unsuccessful.[2][3] He answers Issues irregularly, with no particular focus on increasing his World Census rankings.

R/D

The only time anjo has been involved in R/D gameplay was the liberation of South Pacific, where he participated as part of the Civilian Militia that was spontaneously assembled for the operation. His puppet The Class Council remains in the region to this day. As member of the South Pacific Coral Guard, he is WA-locked in the South Pacific.

World Assembly

anjo's involvement in the World Assembly is mostly limited to regular participation in the Office of World Assembly Legislation's proposal discussions and votes, where he provided over 150 opinions on upcoming WA proposals for the office to use in voting recommendations.[4] Furthermore, he has authored over 60 Office Analyses of such proposals.[5]

Together with Tinhampton, anjo co-authored two General Assembly drafts, one of which went to vote where it was defeated with 44.68% support in September of 2022.[6][7]

Regional Government

Following his admission as legislator of the South Pacific on the 24th of January, 2020, anjo has been a member of the Assembly of the South Pacific.[8] He mostly worked within the Office of World Assembly Legislation since the middle of 2020 before expanding into other areas of regional government, and has held a few high positions since.

Director of the Office of WA Legislation

On January 3rd, 2021, anjo was appointed Secretary of the Office of World Assembly Legislation by Prime Minister PenguinPies, following the stepdown of Aumeltopia.[9] Within the first weeks of his tenure, voter participation in OWL sharply increased and would continue to steadily grow during the first months,[10] and voting recommendations were regularly published on time again. The OWL Bot, which anjo had been developing and testing since around September of 2020 in a backchannel of the OWL Discord server, was also officially introduced and made available to the whole of OWL staff with the goal of easing the relatively administratively heavy and repetitive workload of staff members.

Following the passage of the World Assembly Act by the Assembly of the South Pacific on February 20, 2021, which officially established OWL as a permanent Executive Office, newly-elected Prime Minister Sandaoguo appointed anjo as the first OWL Director.[11] During this term, he mainly focused on keeping OWL activity on track and staff members engaged, for which he expressed optimism in an interview with the Southern Journal.[12] He also attempted to revive the OWL writing team, which was first launched way back in early 2020 to create a general World Assembly guide as well as guidelines on how to pass own WA resolutions in order to help develop a South Pacifican WA authorship culture; yet, as all OWL Secretaries before him, he failed to complete the project, which ultimately dried out again and remains unfinished to this day.

anjo was re-appointed for a second term as OWL Director by Prime Minister Witchcraft and Sorcery after the June 2021 Cabinet election.[13] However, OWL activity started to diminish in light of increasingly inactive senior staff members and failure by anjo to react by promoting new members to senior staff status ‒ only senior staff were entrusted with the password to the OWL nation, and thus one of them had to be around for opening each and every vote. In subsequent talks by the Cabinet about possible OWL reforms, a number of points were established to be addressed,[14] and an Assembly discussion was also created.[15] Despite beginning with implementing suggested reforms, such as moving OWL discussions from the Voting Center RMB to Discord and re-programming the OWL Bot to adapt, which led to initial resurgence of OWL activity, anjo was unable to sustain this, as his recent election as Chair of the Assembly diverted much of his time to this new position. With activity plummeting again, anjo privately tendered his resignation to Witchcraft and Sorcery a few weeks before the October 2021 Cabinet election.

Chair of the Assembly

From October 15, 2020 until the recall of Purple Hyacinth as Chair of the Assembly on the the August 17, 2021, anjo was one of her Deputy Chairs.[16] Following the recall, as the most senior deputy, he assumed the role of Acting Chair of the Assembly for nine days.

In the triggered snap election, he was elected with 72.4% approval[17] on a platform of increasing the Assembly's gameside presence, as well as extensive Deputy Chair involvement in the office.[18] For the latter, he confirmed Tisha (who was a deputy of Purple Hyacinth) as Deputy Chair and newly appointed Floptop and Doge Land as his deputies,[19] following a call on interested legislators to apply to privately apply to him.[20] However, in the October 2021 Cabinet election, all three of them were elected as Cabinet ministers,[21], and no new deputies were appointed in their place. With this point of anjo's campaign falling flat, he mainly focused on finishing the Chair Guide, a comprehensive document detailing all duties of the Chair of the Assembly which was originally started by Purple Hyacinth in her second term,[22] as well as the development of multiple "auto-formatter" tools for generating the routine announcement texts the Chair would regularly use. Near the end of the term, both were released to the public together, with the auto-formatters embedded in the Chair Guide.[23]

For the December 2021 Chair of the Assembly election, anjo decided to run for re-election, promising another shot at deputy involvement, a complete read-through of the South Pacific's laws to ensure their uniformity, and a revival of the Assembly Mentorship Program,[24] which was originally started by Phoenix in their term as Chair,[25] and was also already planned to be restarted by Purple Hyacinth.[22] Running unopposed, he received an approval rate of 100% over the Re-Open Nominations option.[26] After another short period of Deputy Chair applications, anjo appointed The Haughtherlands as his deputy.[27] Approximately one month before the regularly scheduled election, anjo resigned the office, citing decreased RL availability after a fairly uneventful term, adding one more resignation to the stream of resignations in the preceding weeks.[28]

Delegate

anjo ran against incumbent PenguinPies in the July 2022 Delegate election, promising a return of Amerion's Delegate's Briefing, speedy cooperation with the Office of World Assembly Legislation, and an RMB Awards program, among other things, all wrapped in a cake theme as a mirror to his opponent's pride in pies.[29] After Penguin dropped out of the race due to RL complications,[30] the Assembly forwarded anjo to the gameside round with a 92.9% majority of approvals over the Re-Open Nominations option.[31] Despite struggling against a large portion of RON votes at first, he ultimately managed to come out on top with 62.7% of the vote on July 22 to become the Delegate-elect.[32] On July 27, he overtook PenguinPies in number of endorsements and assumed the in-game Delegacy on the major update, which formally inaugurated him as the 40th Delegate of the Coalition.[33]

Other Offices

Since the July 12, 2020, anjo is serving as the South Pacific's ambassador to the Free Nations Region. Due to his experiences with this region, he was one of the main supporters of the Pax Patronus treaty between TSP and FNR when Minister of Foreign Affairs Jay Coop presented it to an at-first sceptic Assembly in September of 2020; ultimately, the treaty was ratified with a 64% majority.[34]

On January 4, 2022, the Council on Regional Security appointed anjo as a member of the South Pacific Coral Guard.[35]

anjo was nominated by the Cabinet to join the Legislator Committee on January 2, 2022, and confirmed by the Assembly with a 100% majority on the 9th.[36] This followed the slow accumulation of legislator applications left unprocessed by LegComm, which led to calls for reform as well as for a fifth member to be appointed;[37] LegComm had subsequently opened applications for such a fifth member.[38]
