The STGW 48 (abbreviation of Sturmgewehr 48, "assault rifle 48") is a Mahazhovian assault rifle that is chambered for the 5.56x45mm cartidge. It was developed before the Fourth Mahazhovian war by Ingo Siegfried Nikolaus. After more than seven decades since its creation, the STGW 48 remains popular among the armed forces of Mahazhovia and is still in use.
Design
The STGW 48 was designed to be a simple, and reliable fully automatic rifle that could be manufactured quickly and cheaply. The STGW. 48 operates on a long-stroke gas piston mechanism, utilizing gas from the barrel to cycle the bolt carrier group. It is also equipped with a unique fire selector cam that manages the firing mode.
Accessories
A range of accessories is available to enhance the rifle's functionality and maintain readiness in the field. These include a bayonet for close-quarters combat, which can be attached to the barrel, and a quick-loading device to streamline magazine reloading. Standard field gear includes three spare magazines and four 15-round stripper clips to aid in ammunition management. Additionally, the rifle is supplied with a maintenance kit for minor repairs, a cleaning rod for barrel upkeep, and a sling for easier carrying and handling. These accessories ensure the operator is well-equipped for various operational needs, from basic maintenance to close-quarters engagements.
