For the first half of the war, the Frost Empire maintained a policy of containment hoping to discuss terms with the rebellion, but as the war dragged on the Imperial government became pressured to escalate as the RIM consolidated its positions and seized control of RDC positions on the Reizen Mainland as well as threaten the WPR's holdings in central Reizen. The Empire in turn expelled the RDC from the Grovne Ceasefire and invaded its remaining holdings, expelling it from mainland Reizen and onto the two islands to the West. As the Empire became distracted with a punitive campaign against the RDC, the RIM launched their own offensives against the WPR, encircling the WPR capital of Shiranuma and also taking advantage of the chaos due to foreign powers declaring intent to or actively intervening on behalf of the RDC, and the Empire's own invasion of Zett Island - the former capital of the Province. As Imperial lines became stretched thin dealing with potential foreign interventionists, the Empire accepted Sedunn's offer of a massive saturation strike against the RIM in tandem with their own massive military offensive. Meanwhile behind the scenes Sedunn was also negotiating with the WPR who agreed informally to return to the ceasefire initially but later formally backed the ceasefire with Bruuman support. The saturation strike was carried out in November 2019 to great effect. The campaign was followed up by an Imperial ground offensive, supported by Sedunnic expeditionary untis as well as special forces. The special forces were already in Reizen as part of the Grovne Ceasefire to combat the RIM's capacity to wage war with the chemicals weapons.

The Reizen Civil War was a multi-sided armed conflict in Reizen between the Frost Empire led by President Revan Kensei, along with domestic and foreign allies, and various domestic and foreign forces opposing both the Frost government and each other in varying combinations from 2017 to 2020. The fighting was initially between the Imperial Frost Government led by Revan Kensei and the Reizen Democratic Party a tent party of disgruntled Reizeners supported by defecting FSDF and Imperial Military officers. However, the Reizen Democratic Party split along ideological lines into three distinct factions. The first and weakest was the Reizen Democratic Coalition (RDC). They fought for a democratic and capitalist Reizen, and initially held the largest rebel held chemical weapons stockpile until that was seized by the RIM who used it indiscriminately. The Second faction, the Worker's Party of Reizen (WPR) aimed to bring a socialist revolution to the province and was supported by Bruuma and Kai Fa. The last and most belligerent rebel group, the Reizen Indepence Movement (RIM) aimed to gain independence by any means necessary. The RIM was ruthless in recruitment drives, forcibly conscripting civilians to use as human shields, and frequently used chemical weapons and also worked to develop a strong biological weapons program that went underground after the war. They also looted enemy uniforms to use against friendly forces and later acquired nuclear warheads from TCC-based Point Rain Armories, who denied selling the weapons to the RIM.

The Frost Empire, WPR and RDC agreed to Sedunn mediated talks leading to the Grovne Ceasefire, but as the RIM threatened to kick the RDC out of the Reizen mainland they sought foreign assistance, in particular Ryccian assistance which was unacceptable to the WPR, who left the ceasefire.

Then as the war turned for the RIM after the saturation strike and renewed Imperial offensive, they launched a series of international raids to secure additional men and equipment, with their greatest prize being a secondary base of operations in Transsuneria in exchange for freeing its former leader Soormann from prison. And as they were slowly pushed back, the RIM concocted several strategies, the first was using foreign support to supply their biological weapons divisions, and when that was a bust, to develop their own strains of biological weapons to be unleashed against coalition forces. The Second was to use the nuclear warheads they acquired from Point Rain Armories in a suicidal bid to kill as many coalition forces as possible. Which they did after detonating seven nuclear warheads in June 15 2020 to cover for the fleeing RIM political and military leadership who remain at large. The attack was named the Seven Pillars Tragedy. After the loss of Reizen province a joint Sedunnic and Frost taskforce hunted down the last RIM surface fleet in the battle of the Karelins leading to the liberation of the island and the death of Soormann.

Hostilities ended formally in Reizen upon the signing of the Treaty of Ikireijin in November 14, 2020. The WPR was able to avoid the RDC's fate thanks to their foreign benefactors and political pragmatism. [1] [2] [3] [4]
