Introduction

The command structure is hierarchical and primarily organized around brigades and divisions controlling groupings of units. The Esfalsan Army officially recognizes seven different hierarchal units commanded by commissioned officers:

  • Platoon: The smallest unit commanded by a commissioned officer. Composed of five squads of nine, with five headquarters officers. 50 soldiers.
  • Company: The primary unit of the Army; soldiers are typically specialized at the company level. Composed of four platoons. No additional headquarters personnel. The commanding officer of a company is also the direct commander of one of the component platoons. 200 soldiers.
  • Battalion: Typically composed of two companies. No additional headquarters personnel. The commanding officer of a company is also the direct commander of one of the component platoons. 400 soldiers.
  • Regiment: Typically composed of two battalions, plus a command platoon. 850 soldiers.
  • Brigade: Typically composed of four battalions, plus a command platoon. Battalions may be organized under either a regiment or a brigade, but typically not both. 1650 soldiers.
  • Division: The largest unit of organization currently in use. Typically composed of four brigades, eight regiments, or some equivalent combination, plus a command platoon. 6650 to 6850 soldiers.
  • Corps: Composed of three divisions, plus a command company. Only previously used in times of war. Typically composed of four divisions, plus a command company. 26800 to 27600 soldiers.
