The Multilateral Accord on the Mutual Recognition of Academic Accreditation Standards for Engineering and Engineering Technology Programs, also referred to as the Pelograd Accord, is an international agreement concerning the accreditation of academic programs for engineering and engineering technology. Signatory states agree to recognize the functional equivalence of program accreditation by their member institution and those of other signatories and to allow signatory-accredited degrees in relevant fields to be accepted by educational institutions, employers, and regulatory authorities in all member states.

Overview

The Pelograd Accord applies to undergraduate and postgraduate academic degrees in engineering fields, academic degrees in engineering technology, and any nation-particular equivalents thereof. Signatory parties agree that the accreditation standards applied to academic programs in these fields by other member institutions are functionally equivalent in academic rigor and program quality assurance to their own, and further agree to recognize degrees awarded by such accredited programs in other signatory states as being of the same quality standard as degrees accredited by their own member institution for the purposes of licensure eligibility, regulation, employment, education, and other purposes. The Accord contains minimum program standards that the accreditation bodies of signatory states are required to match or exceed in order to receive and retain this recognition.
