Due to the area extension and isolation of the different population centres in the river valleys and steppes of Rhayna, Alla-gy and Nea-gy, this region enjoys of a wide variety of cuisine styles and flavours. However, all the distinct cuisines share key aspects due to the already present food tradition of the Aegean tribes that first arrived to the location in prehistory, and the frequent excursions of philosophers and monks over the mountain ranges that separate the three regions.

Rhayna's earliest eating establishments recognizable as restaurants in the modern sense first emerged in the Rhaynan and Nea-gyan city states as far back as 600 BCE. Street food became an integral aspect of Rhaynan food culture during the late 18th century.

The preferences for seasoning and cooking techniques of Rhaynan states and provinces depend on differences in social class, historical background, and cultural regions. Geographic features including mountains, steppes, rivers, lakes, and deserts also have a strong effect on the local available ingredients, considering that the climate of Rhayna varies from arid in the west to semi-arid in the east.
