Following the 2012 federal election, he became leader of the faction of the socialist party. In May 2018 he was announced as the candidate for the President of Eflad by the coalition. He was elected president by the Federal Forum on 22 October 2018 with 78% of the vote. Efæn belongs to the right wing of the SPE, belonging to the Gröönwoold group.
Personal Life
Early Life
He was born in 1962 in Dalheide. His father was a roofer in the larger Dalheide area. His mother was an industrial worker.
Education
He attended the Dalheide grammar school absolving his large Matura. He moved to Münnen (then Tehnograd) to study law after doing his military service from 1980 to 1981. He absolved his State accreditation in 1987. He worked as a junior professor under the professor for constitutional law, until he obtained his doctorate in 1992. His thesis discussed different constitutional principles and their creation.

Efæn married his long-time partner Anne Hilme, whom he met as a theatre actor in school, in 1995. They have two children together.
Political career
Member of the Fredoast Sænat
Efæn joined the SPE in the summer of 1990 and became the head of the local denomination in August 1992. He was proposed and chosen as the district's candidate for the 1993 elections. During his two terms he became a prominent figure regarding security and fiscal policy, becoming the head of the security committee and championing a law, establishing the cybersecurity programme in the Fredoast police, as well as reforming the Fredoast tax code.
Minister of Finance
He was elected for the Sænat in 2008 and was nominated as Minister of Finance. During his term, alongside the minister of education, he was the mastermind behind the educational reform of 2010 which he promised would "prove profitable in the long run by producing an even better job market and increasing the productivity." This reform was accompanied by a vast reform of subventions which cause some disapproval in the market due to the famous striking of the industry electricity price, which cause a temporal inflation.
Leader of the faction
After losing the primary for candidacy as the chancellor, Efæn became the leader of the faction for the following term. He stepped down from the position after the 2016 election and stepped down from his mandate ten years after being elected for the first time.
President of Eflad
He was nominated as the candidate for the office of the president in March 2018 by the ruling socialists. He was elected on the 22 October 2018 and re-elected on the 16 October 2023 for his last term which will end on the 16 October 2028. His presidency has been focused around social problems. Efæn pioneered the "Präsidentenwandern" (presidential hiking) where he meets with interested people and goes hiking with them. He has also received several international guests and has iterated that "Eflads role on the international stage should be a neutral one; this credo is what my presidency is about."
