Pacivision Song Contest → 2022

The Pacivision Song Contest 2021 was the 1st edition of the Pacivision Song Contest. It took place in Südtor, Gianatla as an extension event of the Southern Gate Festival 2021 organised by the Pacivision Executive Board (PEB) together with the host broadcaster BUS TV and sponsored by the Gianlucian government and the music-streaming service Audit.[1] The contest was held in Studio 8 of Gianniwood on 30 January 2021 and presented by actress Lisa Steinburg and journalist Lukas Rahgen.

Nine countries have participated in the debut edition of the contest, with Sedunn winning the contest with the song "Never wanted this to end" by Illkrom Blenienn and Rila Jok. The song has won albeit being tied with the satirist Izaakian entry "Montacia Fall" by Landing Emraldis. Since the Sedunnic entry was able to secure more points from televoting, the victory was given to them.

Location

With the first contest being produced as a pilot for an annual event, Gianlucian public broadcaster BUS TV has chosen one of its Südtor TV studios in Gianniwood for the Pacivision Song Contest debut. The studio was able to accomodate up to 5,000 live viewers and was renamed to Südtor Concert Arena during the event.[2]

Production

The Gianlucian government and music-streaming service Audit have agreed to invest altogether 5 million TSP-$ into the event and forego any participation fees, while reserving the right to raise those in future contest. With a limited budget and the constraints given by hosting the event in a TV studio, it was only possible to provide a simple stage to the participants and deny most extravagant staging, if not paid for by the artists or the participating broadcasters themselves. The presenters, Lisa Steinburg and Lukas Rahgen, were internal selections from within the BUS TV network.

Format

The show started with a video introducing the general idea behind the contest and its logo and featured music composed by symphonic musician and DJ Max Rühl. After that an opening act by Gianlucian artist Peter Wolf played while the flags of the participating countries were presented in a "flag parade". The choreography of the parade was created by Gianlucian designer Karl Mansfeld and included a native welcoming message to each country, swinging light sticks and a projection of each flag as a parallelogram divided into triangles at the ceiling of the studio.

Postcards

While the stage was prepared for each contestant, short videos called "postcards" were shown to the audience in the arena and on TV. Each video showed a 40 second clip of the upcoming contestant having a photo shoot at different special locations all around Gianatla. The following locations were used for each participating country:

  1.  Besern - Democracy Park, Gianlucastadt
  2.  Snolland - Old City, Französisch Ort
  3. New Itomorii - MS Charlotte, Atlantic Strait
  4.  Sedunn - Freudstadt Harbour, Freudstadt
  5.  Gianatla - Neptune's Mountain, Atlantis State
  6. Mauquibie - Südtor City Centre, Südtor
  7. Beepee - Atlantis Main Station, Atlantis
  8.  Izaakia - Königspalast, Atlantis
  9. Eareamland - Fish Market, Angelhaven

Participating countries

Nine countries participated in the first-ever contest. In a surprising turn of events, 1st place was tied between Sedunn and Izaakia. According to the rules, the tie was resolved by the most televote points which were in favour of Sedunn.

Results

The contest took place on 30 January 2021 at 20:15 (CCT).
