Safarkran and Mosarkran are unique crystal-like materials found in certain parts of the Holy Imperium of Trianar. They produce massive amounts of energy- Safarkran imparts so much energy as to power FTL travel, while Mosarkran produces a violent energy that obliterates matter, turning it into nothing but energy, similar to antimatter.
Etymology
Safarkran means "Sun metal" in Neo-Indavral, and Mosarkran means "Moon Metal." It's assumed that Safarkran is called such because suns impart energy unto planets- and Mosarakran seems to only been named such to juxtapose with Safarkran, implying that Safarkran was found and named first by Ikaranareans.
History
Safarkran and Mosarkran were brought by the Ûferions during the Ûferperion wars. Whether they were a byproduct of the fighting or what was used to fight is unknown. After the Ûferions died out, hundreds of thousands of years passed before it came into living hands again- on Akranas and on Altaras, respective homeworlds for Sycriûn and Kanareö, There existed quantities of Safarkran and Mosarkran. This jumpstarted their FTL capabilities and military capacity very early. For most of their history after their first contact, Sycriûn and Kanareö engaged in a deadly Resource War over Safarkran and Mosarkran resources, resulting in hundreds of trillions of casualties over thousands of years. In Sycriûn societies, the metals were seen as symbols of power and destruction; honorable executions involved being obliterated by Mosarkran energy. On Kanareö planets, the materials were prized as products of technology and were used to rapidly expand Kanareö holdings.
Around 2,200 BBT, Hemmerhaldian Human colonists discovered Safarkran and Mosarkran after exploring several systems. This led to massive imperialist tendencies as Hemmerhaldian territories had extremely dense quantities of the materials compared to Sycriûn and Kanareö. In turn, this led to the numerous Hemmerhaldian Wars of Expansion, overtly imperialist wars that resulted in the extinction of at least 5 species. Kanareö and Sycriûn wars with unadvanced species killed at least 4 others off as they feared the creatures discovering the materials. Wars over the resources culminated in the Xanstal-Mannaö War of Aggression, the first and only war (until the Ikaranarean Star Empire and beyond) where Sycriûn and Kanareö allied together. They fought for control of the resource-rich Hemmerhaldian systems and ultimately lost after 4 trillion casualties, devastating for all parties involved at the time. After this war, Hemmerhaldia solidified itself as regional power in the area.
When the Ikaranareans arrived around 1500 BBT, they quickly discovered Safarkran and Mosarkran around the Ikaranarean Cluster.Their territories were not as dense with the material, often forcing them to overcome the others nations with clever use of existing technologies After the conquest of the Kruxkil Empire, their reserves of the metals increased sharply and they were able to employ greater usage of them than Kanareö and Sycriûn, creating signature weapons like Ûferluminal Missiles and powerful Mosarkran shields.
Common properties
Safarkran and Mosarkran are both normally dormant. This means that all of the energy they produce is contained within them and is not released. Energy can be released and controlled by electrical pulses- This same process can also be used on a smaller scale to connect them to a biological being's nervous system- albeit the only known fully biological species able to survive this process is Ikaranareans. Regular humans are known to be killed by the process as well.
