The war began in 769 BBT when the Relind Corporation laid siege to the colony world of Zethwri, owned by Isper Inc. Relind's goal is largely determined to seize the weapons production factories, which were producing tech that Relind Corp did not have access to. Due to the remote nature of the moon Zethwri, Relind Corp was able to intercept messages and ships from spreading news of the siege. Only after two weeks, when the population was beginning to starve, did serious assaults on the occupying Relind fleet by the civilian population begin. Three days later a small craft was able to escape the blockade and make it to the nearby system Visr and relay news of the siege. Since the monthly shipment hadn't come in from Zethwri, Isper already had a fleet heading to figure out what had happened. The fleet headed to Zethwri and made contact with the smaller occupying fleet and force them to leave. Upon their arrival they found that Relind Corp had reinforced the occupying fleet with a battleship, which promptly fired upon the Isper fleet and destroyed them when they exited pseudospace. When Isper's fleet never responded after reaching Zethwri, the company correctly assumed that Relind Corp had destroyed it, and they declared war. A little over a dozen nations and megacorporations declared war on Relind Corp for their atrocities and in solidarity with Isper.
