Xi’ean is a sparsely populated planet in The Rim.

Xi’ean is a planet located in the eastern part of The Rim, close to the Eastern Region. The climate is very cold, with the tropical equator only having temperate climate.

History

Xi’ean was settled by human migrants, most likely to mine the bountiful reserves of rare earth minerals and a special ore only originating in the planet, Xi’ean Gagomite, a metal that can be used as a stronger replacement to steel. Recently, lumber has become a blossoming industry, with the Xi’ean soil’s nutrients being described as excellent for pine-like tree farming.

It has always been sparsely-populated, with its capital Yu-eto, located in the equator, only having 1 million people out of 63 million. Most are centred on the equator, with only a few settlements and military outposts dotting the non-equatorial parts of the planet.

Xi’ean’s people once spoke Anirish, a descendant of English that diverged in the eastern Rim, but immigrants from Vonmises and Vurbenta have influenced the language to become Xi’ean, an unique language only spoken in this planet. 57% of Xi’ean are humans, 24% are Vonmisians, 18.5% are Vurbentans, and 0.5% are other species.

Geography

Xi’ean is very cold, with the equator having a temperate climate. Non-equatorial areas face temperatures of Taiga and Tundra, with the poles facing temperatures of even -250 °C.

Xi’ean, ironically, also has abundant freshwater. Lots of lakes dot most of the temperate equator, and glaciers, frozen lakes and plentiful snow can often be seen outside the warmest areas of the planet.

Xi’ean only experiences two seasons: Summer and Winter. Due to its unique orbit, it gets closer to its star in Summer, and quickly steps back in Winter. In Summer, most areas of the planet can actually melt, providing unfrozen lakes and melting glaciers that create waterfalls. It can actually rain in Taiga-like and some Tundra-like places in Summer, and the equator can sometimes get as much precipitation as a subtropical rainforest. This is short-lived, however, as Winter usually takes up about ~68-75% of a Xi’ean year, returning everything to its average state.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Xi’ean has a rotation of 64 hours, forcing locals to rely on the standard system and schedule their day accordingly. Even if it is night, it might be morning due to the standard followed across Ryccia.

Despite this, Xi’ean actually has an earth-like orbit: 363 days makes a Xi’ean year. Locals follow the Xi’ean Year Standard to measure the year, but use the Imperial Standard (365 days) when taking into account things like birthdays and the overall time that has passed.

The atmosphere is made up of mainly oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, and traces of radon. Xi’ean is smaller than Earth, only being 83% of its size.

Satellites

Xi’ean has a small, asteroid-shaped satellite, Xi’ean-2, but it is not seen in the night sky.
