New Mako University is One of Izaakia’s most elite universities. Originally founded in 1612 by Hestia Menzies the University has developed a world class reputation for Research and Education.
History
New Mako University was founded in 1612 with a royal commission, the first Chancellor of the University was Hestia Menzies. Originally just three subjects were taught at the university, Medicine, Classics, and Natural Sciences.
In 1678 the university was raised to the ground during a siege in the Pirate Wars, most of the early records were lost, however, most of the universities prized collection of ancient artworks and scrolls were spared in Fort Mako.
The University was rebuilt and the Menzies Building which is the oldest existing building at the university was completed in 1683.
The University expanded over the centuries and now has 42,000 students from across the world. With a strong reputation in the sciences and engineering the university has been involved in many key developments, including the development of nuclear energy, and rocket technology. The university is a centre of excellence for computer sciences and is home to the Synapse and Hive artificial intelligence super computers.
