The Great War was a regionwide war in the South Pacific that lasted from 1949 to 1955. It involved two opposing alliances: the Allies and the Imperialists and respective allies.

1938: King Peter II ascended to the throne of Karnetvor. The king was head of state, but he had no real power, power rested in the hands of the Prime Minister.
1944: Stjepan Masić, of the Social-Democratic Party, was elected on an imperialist platform; he wanted to enlarge Karnetvor's colonial empire. Karnetvor had ambitions to control the southern half of the South Pacific Ocean. This, combined with his promise to expand the welfare system, and his support for minority and women's rights, proved popular with voters. A means to accomplish this was additional ports and raw materials, for example by controlling Termina.
August 23rd, 1949: The Karnetvorian crown prince and his wife travelled to Clocktown, Termina, for trade negotiations and diplomacy. There was intense rivalry between TCC city states during the 20th century. A corporate assassin (an immigrant who harbored animosity towards Karnetvor) murdered the crown prince and his wife.
August 24th, 1949: Karnetvor starts mobilising in Tasternine, partly in secret.
0500 hours, August 27th, 1949: The Karnetvorian navy and air force launches strikes against TCC ports and airfields. Airborne troops are deployed to secure airfields, ports and other strategic infrastructure in order to receive the bulk of the invasion forces. Some TCC city states openly side with Karnetvor, offering favourable concessions to the detriment to the city state where the assassination happened.
August 27th, 1949: Sedunn, Ryccia and Stoinia, both being important naval powers in the South Pacific Ocean, declare war on Karnetvor, wanting to preserve the balance of power in the region and save Termina from annexation. Tekarai honoured its previously declared alliance with Karnetvor and joins the war. Tekarai wanted to dominate the Mediterranean Sea and cripple its rival Sedunn. Tekarai has annexed Ubesii. Johnathan Fletcher, supreme leader of the Dominion of Tekarai. There is a the Ubesiian insurgency.
August 28th, 1949: Sedunn pulls back naval forces from the Remetull Islands to concentrate them in the Mediterranean Sea to take on the Tekarian navy which is seen as a more immediate threat, despite knowing about Karnetvorian plans to invade the strategically important islands. Sedunn starts evacuating the military from the main island to save its cities from destruction in potential battle to smaller islands. Destroying the main harbours to hinder Karnetvor strategic usage of the islands. Ezervulge mobilises to potentially take advantage of the situation and avenge its defeat in Peter I's War.
??, 1949: Karnetvor makes rapid gains against TCC and is able to transfer over several hundred thousand troops by ship and air (having supremacy at sea)
??, 1949: While the Sedunnic navy engages and thoroughly defeats the Tekarian navy in the Second Naval Battle of the Strait of Saint Michael, Karnetvor lands troops unopposed on Piel Island, occupying it. Start of the Gentlemen's War where the Karnetvorian and Sedunnic commanders avoid excessive force and inform eachother when they are about to destroy equipment or bildings so that they can evacuate their personnel. This is due the old friendship between high ranking officers in the nations. Ezervulge declares strict neutrality.
??, 1949: Karnetvor invites Techganet to join the war on its side, offering territory in Crabry.

??, 1950: Karnetvor invades Government Island. It is used as a stepping stone for the invasion of the Siculites later.
February, 1950: The situation stabilises in Termina, but Karnetvor is not in full control yet. Karnetvor and Tekarai land on the Siculite Islands in February of 1950. In a month, they defeat the Ryccian defenders, but the Ryccians and the natives fight a guerrilla campaign, that wasn't fully defeated until April. The islands were annexed by Karnetvor.
