Alvira is the seat of the central government of the Allied Nations of Alvira, as well as the home world of the Alviran species. Alvira is a terrestrial moon orbiting the gas giant Alvader, one of the 16 planetary objects orbiting the trinary star system of Abingdon. Alvira does not have a natural satellites, however Alvader's 24 other satellites are easily observable from Alvira, with 4 of them in a consistently close distance. Although well populated, Alvira's natural beauty has been successfully preserved and protected, and most of the inhabitants of the moon lives closer to the equator, leaving the vast majority of the planet undeveloped. The northern hemisphere featured a massive crater that developed from the impact of the asteroid V-121-E in 371 BBT, a crisis that laid foundation to the creation of the Alliance.
Etymology
History
Geography and Climate
Alvira has more land area than it has water surface, with only 41.8% of its surface covered in salt water. This caused most of the landmass to be arid, and have less humidity and rainfall. The planet has 7 oceanic bodies, while its landmasses are all connected. Most of Alvira's mountainous terrains can be found in its temperate zone, where due to its rotational tilt, the gravity of Alvader exerts the most influence. Alvader's gravitational influence on Alvira caused most of the moon's volcanic activity. Tectonic force are still noticeable, but most geologic phenomena on Alvira can be attributed to its gravitational relationship with its gas giant.
Flora and Fauna
Political System
Main Article: Core Quadrant Central System Group
Abingdon System is part of the Core Quadrant Central System Group (CQCSG), which does not abide to Alvira's governmental hierarchy. Within the moon of Alvira itself, the entire planet is directly administrated by a Terrestrial Governor, a position that is rotated every two year between the 126 Member States of the Alliance. Helping the Terrestrial Governor is a General Assembly of elected councilors, each representing the member states, and the Tertiary Committee, the catch-all name referring to Terrestrial bureaucrats handling the day-to-day management of the planet.
Military
Economy
Having been cleansed almost entirely of industrial and resource-extraction operations almost a century ago, Alvira is reliant on shipments from outside to supply its inhabitants. Being mostly inhabited by bureaucrats and employees of the various corporation headquarters conducting business within the Allied States, the economy of the planet is based almost entirely around the service sector. The lush and beautified natural wildlife of Alvira also provided huge tourist attraction and religious pilgrimage.
