Brasschaat is a planet in Novaterra.

Brasschaat is very rural, known for its textiles, textile-based agriculture, fish production, and lumber production.

History

Settled by colonists from The Rim, the Eastern Region and New Daonlathas, Brasschaat was meant to be an agricultural colony, as it is today. Its culture has major elements from Rim and New Daonlathas planets, as well as some Eastern Region influences. However, their culture is considered part of Novaterra, as the entire region was influenced by the other three.

Brasschaat is a rural planet, mainly focused on textile-based agriculture and a small textile industry, along with fish and lumber. It mainly exports its products, most popular being cotton, wool, and mutton.

The planet’s farms have abundant numbers of sheep and sheep-like livestock, along with major cotton plantations. Food grown is not exported often, and the planet sometimes imports it. The few urban centers the planet has run on the textile industry and other planetary services.

Brasschaat, in the Warlord Conflict, was the site of the Battle of Brasschaat, which saw the Novaterran Viceroy Valentina Ianis’s defeat against the fleet of the Imperial pretender, Alexander VII.

Brasschaatians are known to loathe mining, as in the old days, certain sections of the planet were penal colonies, with prisoners often used as slave labour in the planet’s now defunct mines. Not only did it dehumanize the individual, it caused great environmental destruction to certain areas, something from which the planet had only recently recovered from fully. As such, the mere activity of mining is banned by planetary authorities, and any illegal attempts are met with both local police action and localist militia terrorist attacks.

Geography

As a temperate planet, Brasschaat is suited for its kind of agriculture. Grasslands cover the planet in green, as the livestock consume their daily ration from nature. In the frigid north, enormous mountain formations can be observed, and in here, polar resorts are found, which offer a winter wonderland for tourists.

Despite banning mining, Brasschaat is known to have extraordinary mineral reserves, which is one of the reasons it was mined in the past. Economists in the planet predict that, if the local government opens up their deposits for extraction, a huge economic and migratory boom may follow. But Brasschaat remains steadfast in its opposition, with all sides of the local spectrum, from communists to fascists, equally vehemently oppose mining activities.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Brasschaat has a rotation of 26 hours, forcing locals to either rely on the Imperial standard, or use their planet’s hours instead.

Brasschaat’s orbit is 505 days, forcing locals to rely on the Imperial standard, usually.

Brasschaat’s atmosphere is also composed of oxygen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, helium, nitrogen, and trace amounts of fluoride.

Brasschaat is 0.93x times the size of Earth.

Satellites

Brasschaat has five satellites, all of them asteroid-shaped and not visible from the naked eye: Priyis, Vanto, Arinda, Toran and Pastura.
