The May Betrayal, or May Treachery was an attempted coup by a group of Prydonian nobles, targeted at the Royal Family of Prydon and the reformist First Minister, Boris Bokha. The goal of the group, known as the May Cabinet, is to reverse the abolition of serfdom that was already in effect after the Balcony Address and to return privileges to the landowners. The May Cabinet managed to kidnap King Ferdinand VIII, Queen-Consort Elivieta, and Princess Evgenia, bringin them to a warehouse in Setrivie. However, within a few weeks, Boris Bokha mobilised the Royal Guards, which defeated the May Cabinet and rescue the Royal Family. The perpetrators would later be sentenced into imprisonment or deportation, but most were later pardoned.
