Colegia (Ryccian: Statetka Colegia; Ukrainian: Штат Колегия) is a state of the Ryccian Federation.
Colegia is a state with a notable Tal minority, but both main ethnic groups - Ryccian and Tal - have a Presbyterian faith in common. When the state borders of the Ryccian Federation were being drafted, these Presbyterian Tal refused to join the rest of their majority Orthodox ethnic kin, instead opting to remain with the rest of the historically, mostly ethnic Ryccian Presbyterian region of Colegia. However, the motives were not primarily fear of religious marginalization. Instead, the Colegian Tal rejected joining the state of Tal due to their strong regionalist identification with the Colegia region and their Presbyterian faith.
Colegia is known for its particular brand of regionalism called "Colegianism", emphasizing Presbyterian virtues and schooling. The missionaries who converted the area placed immense value on education. The locals of the region were instructed in these schools, creating a culture that valued professionalism. Today, Colegia has one of the highest rates of university graduations, the highest literacy rate in the entire country, and so forth. Despite being one of the least populous states, Colegia's prestigious universities holds among them the University of Thautencht, considered the third best institution of higher education in the entire country after Legada's Academy of the Republic and Daonlathas's Hoxe University (previously the historical Royal College of State before the Democratic Revolution).
Colegia's residents are usually bilingual or trilingual in Ryccian, Ukrainian and/or English, the latter widely used for interethnic communication. Colegia's legislative sessions are held in English, one of the only two states to do so along with Sudrissia. For the purposes of interethnic unity, both Ryccian and Ukrainian - native languages of the Ryccians and the Tal - are usually not permitted in the chamber unless the elected deputies are not fluent enough to speak in English.
