The Easten Free State (Eastenic: Eest'n Frystaat, Riverian: Eesten Freystaat, Sunlandic: Eesten Freistaat), alternatively known as the Easten Republic, was a parliamentary revolutionary republic that existed between 1722-1728 during the Easten Rebellion, and again between 1731-1759 as an Elbonian client state during Elbonia's Easten Islands' Campaign. At its height in 1744, the Easten Free State controlled the majority of the Easten Islands, before being beaten back during the Easten Islands' Campaign. The Easten Free State, alongside the Union of Sunland and its constituent member states are considered Elbonian client states.

History

The Easten Free State was the result of years of dissatisfaction of the Eastenias, an Almannic ethnic group related to the Riverians and Sunlandics. Since the 14th century, the islands of Kleinland and Helgland were under the Kingdom of Riverion, while the island of Ottsland was under the Kingdom of Sunland. During this period, the three islands developed a shared struggle for freedom and self determination.

In the early 18th century, Eastenic intellectuals formed the Fedde Club in the island of Kleinland. This organization was cracked down by the authorities of the Kingdom of Riverion. In 1722, the Elbonians launched an invasion into the Kingdom of Armonia, then under a personal union with the Kingdom of Riverion. This led to most of the forces of both Riverion and Armonia to be sent to the frontline in Armonia. This created a massive opportunity for the Feddists. A massive rebellion occurred in the city of Neuhaven am Eesten (Naohav'n am Eest'n), which soon spread into the rest of the island of Kleinland. Welfing Plank, then President of the Fedde Club, declared the creation of the Easten Free State. Revolutionaries in Helgland would also soon join in the revolts, taking over the island from Riverian authorities, as well as overruning the Stoinian holdings in the islands.
