List of active Treecuu naval ship classes (A1-0)
This is a list of classes of naval starships in active service in the fleets of the Treecuu Star Empire.
The Treecuu military doctrines favour super long-range shoot-and-scoot tactics, there are therefore no commissioned fighters and carriers. Treecuu designers favour multi-purpose ships rather than specialised ships; newer ship designs are also highly modular and several classes share a common platform. There are therefore remarkably few different classes of commissioned ships in the Treecuu fleets.
Corvettes and patrols
Ships that are designed to operate in a single system only are designated corvettes if their primary function is combat or patrols if it is surveillance. These ships are typically below 200 m in length and are lightly armed. Most ships belonging to these classes have been decommissioned due to having been deemed obsolete due to recent advances in long-range missile technology.
Frigates
Ships that are designed to defend systems and reinforce neighbouring systems but not operate far away from supply lines are designated frigates. Frigates are typically 300-400 m long, heavily armed, fast and highly manoeuvrable.
Destroyers
Ships that are designed to defend mandates and conduct offensive operations beyond the mandate, but often not far from supply lines, are designated destroyers. They have higher endurance than frigates and can transport and deploy marines. Destroyers are typically longer than 600 m and are also heavily armed.
Cruisers
Ships that are designed to patrol the Treecuu external borders, conduct deep space exploration and offensive operations in enemy territory far from supply lines are designated cruisers. They are typically similar to destroyers, but are often heavier and have a larger transport capacity.
