The political party system of the Republic of Izaria operates within the framework of the nation's unique diarchal democracy. Executive power is constitutionally divided between two coequal heads of state: the President of the Hiri (abbreviated HI.), who must be male, and the President of the Herri (abbreviated HE.), who must be female. These positions are filled through separate, direct, and non-partisan national elections held on a staggered six-year cycle. However, the electoral process is deeply influenced by the country's political parties, which are the dominant forces in the legislative Izarian Assembly. Candidates for the diarchal presidencies, while running as individuals, often receive informal backing, endorsement, or logistical support from established political organizations whose ideologies align with their platform. The parties serve as the primary mechanism for organizing political thought, contesting elections, forming governments, and implementing public policy. Their platforms and internal structures are often shaped by differing interpretations of the foundational national philosophy of Hiri-Herri, as well as by contrasting economic policies and social agendas.

Each political party has its own internal "election" where members of the party choose a male representative for the Hiri and a female representative for the Herri. If that party is to win either election, their respective representative for said position would be chosen.
