The Rosa Uprising was a series of political insurrections that happened in the Prydonian Socialist Federation, caused by economic turmoil and the leaking of government secrets, known as the Red Papers Incident. The insurrection was started by students and activists, initially as a peaceful protest against the hyper inflation that the nation went through, following the exhaustion of Prydon's foreign exchange reserve. The central government failed to subdue the protest due to internal political strife between factions of the Party following the death of Director Andrezhnev. The insurrection grew exponentially after the Red Papers Incident, but was ended in a bloody stampede after Lev Kifinelie enacted a gentle coup and declared himself Director of Prydon, backed by the Revolutionary Guard.

The protestors coordinated under the Society for Reform, led by Maria Tulienovna Rosa, a former party members who openly opposes the party after the death of his son during the Lasvorn Stampede in April. She led several coordinated strikes, and targeted Revolutionary Guard officers with pleas of help to help cause dissent. Her attempt at Aetrinun to gather masses was prematurely crushed after a bloody fight with the Guards. Eventually, leaks on government corruption and human rights abuses led to mass desertion within the ranks of the Revolutionary Guard, followed by the Prydon's Air Force mutiny in Lasvorn Aerodrome, ending with Kifinelie's resignation and Maria Rosa's accession as interim, and later 3rd Director of Prydon.
