Stream is a Sedunnic global open-source online social media and social networking service owned by Stream KJ. It was founded by Hejerr Opalen and his university friends Aenn Sar and Vimmru Sermennienn in 2009 and was built on his predecessor creation Eras, a student networking platform. Today, Stream had established itself as one of the major social media platforms with a global reach and hundreds of millions of daily users.
Stream can be accessed from devices with internet connectivity, such as personal computers, tablets and smartphones. After registering, users can create a profile revealing information about themselves. They can post text, photos and multimedia which are shared with any other users who have agreed to be their "friend" or, with different privacy settings, publicly. Users can also communicate directly with each other with an encrypted chat module, join common-interest groups, and receive notifications on the activities of their Stream friends and pages they follow.
Stream has advertisements, which provide the company with income, but they are not based on personal data. Stream does not provide third parties with personal data, but Hejerr Opalen has controversially used anonymised statistical data from Stream users to make investments, most notably to acquire the Lini restaurants.
