The Triangular-Losavral Border Conflict was a Territorial Dispute involving Losavra and the Triangular Empire that culminated in a war which lasted 18 days. The dispute was over Akon Island, which Losavra had taken in its Revolt For Freedom despite heavy civilian protest. The Triangulars had criticized Losavra for apparently disregarding its own principles by not allowing Akon to leave, while Losavra claimed that the Triangulars were just using a "Minor internal issue" To justify imperialism. On April 24th, a referendum was held on the island, which mounted a 70% vote in favor of joining the Triangular Empire. After this, troops from neighboring Atrisan Tzara declared that Akon was their territory and annexed the Island, an act that was illegal in the Losavral constitution. Despite the event's lack of precedent in law, the Losavral government refused to punish the Atrisans, despite the Triangulars calling for such an event. The Narussian Navy fired on Atrissian trade vessels leaving port, sinking the ships. Losavra did not respond in turn, but tribes mobilzed a force of 20,000 troops to further occupy the island. Civilian resistance on the island grew stronger and on May 11th, the Triangulars sent an ultimatum demanding Losavra hand over Akon to the Narussians or "The peoples who hail from the Ikaranarean region... will be liberated by military force- and the rouge state Losavra will face the ultimate humiliation." When Losavra refused, the Triangulars declared war.

Makeup of forces and naval technology

Triangular Empire

The Triangular Empire had long been in decline, but their military was still one of the most disciplined in the world. Compared to Losavra's loose militias with varying levels of discipline, the armies of the Triangular Empire were extremely disciplined. The Triangulars also had better access to equipment and materiel as the raw resources in the Ikaranarean region were significantly greater than that of Losavra. This meant that Triangular forces had better aim, didn't break, and had more resolve. Moreover, the Triangular forces believed their cause was just, while the Losavrals were less loyal.

The naval forces of the Triangular Empire were significantly better as well- The professional contractors of the Narussian Navy had used their funds to design new Ironclad ships which were significantly more powerful then what Losavra had. These ships had also been rigorously tested and expertly designed.

Confederation of Losavra

Losavra's forces were made up of various militas; the two most major being the "Ben Tzara Ipera" (New Tzaran Army) and the "Řavavala" (The River Guard.) The former supplied around 6000 troops from the Tzaran region, the latter about 6000 from Řavabos. These militas feared the famous armies of Ikarn and, while more elite then usual, could not compare to troops of the 1st nonstop drill, or those of Narus. Many soldiers, especially those in the Řavavala, did not care about the dispute, and some actually attested to believing the island should go to Narus.

Losavral naval forces were very disorganized and used significantly earlier technology than the Triangulars- Losavra did not have the resources to build modern ships and its unexperienced contractors did not have the knowhow to do so.

Course of the War

Initial Naval skirmishes

The Narussian Navy engaged that of the Atrisans in the Battle of the Bay of Spiders, majorly damaging 2 ships. They fought again in the Battle of Ako Strait between the island and mainland Tzara. The Narussian navy sank 5 ships from the Losavral forces.

Blockade and isolation

After the battle of Ako strait, the Narussian navy enacted a naval blockade around the entire island, essentially isolating the island from receiving enemy reinforcements. The Losavrals tried numerous times to break the blockade, with no success. This allowed Ikarnian troops to access the island.

Battle of Akořa

After the blockade, Ikarnian forces spilled onto Akořa via amphibious landings supported by the Narussians. They engaged the militia in small skirmishes on the coast, but soon pushed them to the city of Akořa. In Akořa, deadly urban combat ensued, killing numerous civilians. The Ikarnian soldiers continuously broke the militias and by the 29th the Losavrals had lost over 5000 dead and wounded. Not wanting to lose more men for the defense of a small island, the Losavrals surrendered on the 30th and signed the island over to Narus.

Aftermath

The war severely worsened relations between Losavra and the Triangular Empire. The people in Losavra claimed that the Triangulars were rouge imperialists. It gave the Triangulars greater confidence in their military capacity, which may have led to overconfidence in future wars. The triangulars also dealt onto Losavra 15,000,000 dollars in war reparations for illegally holding Narussian territory.
