Yaru is a brand of soft drink created in Pelinai, currently produced by East Loshkaria Beverages Co. of Kararina, Loshkaria as well as several officially licensed third-party bottlers elsewhere.

Yaru is the most popular brand of soft drink in Pelinai; peach Yaru in particular is widely considered to be Pelinai’s national carbonated beverage. It is notably not easily found outside of its home nation, being sold abroad primarily by restaurants and food retailers specializing in Pelinese cuisine.

History

Availability

Yaru was originally only available as a regional beverage of southern Pelinai, in the regions of Loshkaria and Yukisora, before expanding to the rest of the country through the 1940s and 1950s. Today, it is still most easily found within Pelinai: all major supermarket chains regularly carry one or more flavors of Yaru, and Pelinese restaurants commonly offer it as a fountain drink. Outside of Pelinai, Yaru is sometimes sold by retailers and restaurants specializing in Pelinese cuisine; this most prominently includes the Pelinese barbecue restaurant chain Aihiko’s, which traditionally carries peach Yaru.

ELBC announced in 2021 that it was performing market research as a preliminary step towards expanding retail distribution to other countries in the wider Mediterranean region.

Flavors

The original flavor of Yaru is peach. Other flavors of Yaru currently or formerly sold include:
