Preparation phase
According to the rules of the inaugural contest, the host broadcaster of the winning song would receive the first rights to host the next edition of the contest, however after the cancellation of the 2023 edition of the Pacivision Song Contest. On 20 September 2021 PEB therefore launched a bidding process for hosting the Pacivision Song Contest 2022, publishing a list of criteria and requirements for the host city and venue. Interested broadcasters were to submit bids on behalf of the city through postal means, after which PEB would proceed to send all of them a bid book with more detailed requirements for the cities and broadcaster to submit their plans for review. The cities had until 26 October 2021 to draft and submit their detailed plans.
Over the following weeks many countries expressed interest in hosting the event. On 22 September 2021, on behalf of the city of Gralois, Ikoania officially announced its bid, proposing the Century Arena as a possible venue to host the event.[1] The arena normally serves as a venue for annual events, notably the live IATB TV Awards.
