The Sugovian Defense Forces (Sugovian: Sogowische Weermaht), or simply the Weermaht (Defense Forces), are the national armed forces of the Thirteen United Provinces of the Republic of Sugovia. The Sugovian Defense Forces includes the Army (Sugovian: Landweer, literally "defense of the country"), the Navy (Sugovian: Marine), the Air Force (Sugovian: Loftwaffe), and the Militia (Sugovian: Milizkraft, roughly "militia force"). In 2022, it comprises nearly 200,000 active personnel.
Formed in 1935 following the unification of Sugovia on the 10th of October, the force was originally known as the Armed Forces of the Thirteen United Provinces (Sugovian: Weermaht der Dreizenn Verenigte Provinzen, abbreviated WDVP), a name still often used to refer to the military.
In 1948, alongside large-scale restructuring of the military, a fourth branch was added, known as the Militia (Sugovian: Milizkraft), which acted as the country's organized military reserve force.
