The Principal Supreme Judge of Anserisa (Anserisan: Arbitéro Supremo Principalo d'Anserisa) is the head of the Supreme Court of Justice.

The Principal Supreme Judge is presiding judge on the Supreme Court of Justice and is mandated to sign the declaratory judgments and has the deciding voice in the event of a tie.

As a member of the Supreme Court of Justice, the term of Principal Supreme Judge is of ten years without term limits.

Origin

The origin of the Principal Supreme Judge dates from the Imperial Court of Justice established by Emperor Hadriano during the Anserisan Empire, it was however established a puppet court. When the Republican Revolutionaries proclaimed the Republic, they transformed the Imperial Court of Justice into the Supreme Court of Justice with a more transparent court that would be used to apply the Constitution and be its guardian.

Powers and duties

The Constitution of Anserisa does mention the Principal Supreme Judge specifically within the Chapter 7[1], which is about the Supreme Court of Justice. As Principal Supreme Judge, the powers and duties are to sign the declaratory judgments and to have the deciding voice in the event of a tie.

Selection process

The Principal Supreme Judge is generally the Supreme Judge which has the most seniority in the practice of the law. However, since the nomination is made by the President, any of the nominated Supreme Judge can be nominated to by Principal Supreme Judge.

Political affiliation

The Principal Supreme Judge is not affiliated to a political party and must abide by a strict neutral code, even though its nomination is made by the President, which has a political affiliation.
