The Gianatla women's national football team (Alman: Gianlucische Frauenfußballnationalmannschaft) represents Gianatla in women's international football since 1981. The team's governed by the Gianlucian football association (Gianlucischer Fußballbund (GIF)).

Gianatla is one of three teams, which has won all of the finals they have reached, the others being Huawan and Ryccia.

History

When the Gianlucian Football Association got founded in 1896 and Emperor Gianluca III implemented Gianlucian national teams in various sports, women were not allowed to play football. This has not changed until the 1970s, when Queen Charlotte I was backed by feminists to try and implement a women's national football team also. She met much resistance in the executive board of the association, but in 1980 the pressure from the public got too high and the GIF founded this new branch of their organisation.

A few years later the GIF was one of the main advocates of the implementation of a women's world cup by the IUFA. In 1990, put in between the standard cycle of the IUFA FWC, the first WFWC took place in Sedunn and the Gianlucian national team was able to crown themselves the first winners of the women's tournament by winning 2-0 against Omega.

Kits

Current kits by Fennick

The women's national team is wearing an adjusted version of the men's kits in all tournaments. The typical home colour of the Gianlucian team is traditionally yellow, as defined by Emperor Gianluca III in the sport association law of 1896. The away colours alternate and depend on the incumbent head of state. During Queen Charlotte I's reign red was used, while King Axel I changed the colours to black. King and Leader Gianluca IV however hasn't picked a favourite colour for the away kit yet. Under his reign the team wore mostly red (2008-2017), but also black (since 2018).

The shorts were in the colour of the opposite kit most of the time.

The women's national team gets supplied by Gianlucian fashion manufacturer Fennick.

Home Stadium

The Gianlucian women's national team's home stadium is the Fennick-Arena in Freudstadt-Freuen. Before the Incorporation of Atlantis in 2011 however, the women played in the Zeltstadion in Südtor, in which the Gianlucian museum of women's football can still be found.

Media coverage

The Law on Television in its version from 2016 deems all games of the Gianlucian women's national team as important enough to only be broadcast on free-TV with live coverage. Furthermore live streams of live broadcasts from games of the national team also need to be completely free to watch and may not require an account for the user.

Qualifier or friendly games are broadcast by the partly publically financed BUS TV SPORT, all competitive games are covered by the fully publically financed BUS TV.
All broadcasts are also available as live streams on the internet.

Historic matches are regularly shown during the night on pay-tv sports channels of the Dome network.
