The Elbonian Empire (Elbonian: Ælbonlannkar Vøldarvældskar), also known as Hecklerite Elbonia or simply Elbonia, was a large land empire that was established in Cordilia between 1588 and 1815, encompassing nearly all of modern Sugovia and parts of Weisserstein, Yttria, UPRAN, and Stoinian territories in the Central Islands.
In 1588, with the end of the Heckel-Cleves War, the Elbonian realm was united for the first time in its history under the leadership of the House of Heckel. King Lœtviek II of Heckel was later crowned as Lœtviek I of a unified Elbonian Empire. The empire achieved military supremacy in Central Cordilia through notable victories in the Elbonian Wars, namely against the Sugovian states such as Algaria, Riverion-Armonia, Hohenland, and Sunland, the Moellian states, Yttria, and Stoinia. The Elbonian Empire saw its rise under the leadership of emperor Karol I, and saw the peak of its power under the emperorship of Lœtviek II, Teodor, and Lœtviek III. However, by the time of Lœtviek III, the Elbonian war effort had begin to decline drastically, and their successes were much more costly.
With the beginning of the Second Eastern Coalition War, which would eventually spiral out of control as Elbonia's remaining vassal states of Sunland, Algaria, and Riverion-Armonia took up arms alongside the Eastern Coalition. Many within the empire, such as the Moors in Moorshaven, the Clevians, the Alanians, the Hohenlanders, the Stoinian-Castemurans, the Yttrians, the Moellians, and many others begin openly rebelling against Elbonia's rule, causing the empire to stretch its forces thin. The invasion of Weisserstein through Sunland became the final blow to Elbonia, as the Weissersteiner states unified to defeat the Elbonian invaders, together with their Sugovian allies and Stoinia, would form the League of Guldenkap, which, alongside Yttrian and Moellian forces from the west, brought an end to the empire's rule over much of Central Cordilia.
With the end of the Elbonian Wars in 1815, the Elbonian Empire was dissolved, and the borders of the conquered territories were redrawn by the victorious Grand Coalition. Elbonia was placed under military occupation by the League, and eventually established as a condominium by Weisserstein, Sunland, Algaria, and Riverion-Armonia. A final attempt to restore the empire would be made by the brother of emperor Stæfan, prince Ægostin Bœdvien, in what would be known as the First Elbonian Liberation War.
