The Seal of the Republic of Anserisa is used to authenticate the official documents issued by the government of Anserisa. The Seal was adopted first in 1823, before that the republican government used only the Emblem which incorporated elements from the Coat of Arms of both the Principality and the Empire.
The Seal reads on the top, "Official seal of the Republic" in Anserisan and on the bottom, "Republic of Anserisa" in Anserisan. The two elements are separated by white stars.
History and origins of the Seal
Before the use of the Seal of Anserisa, the Principality of Anserisa and the Anserisan Empire both had Coat of Arms which were used on all official documents produced from these eras. When the republic was established in 1815, it first used the lesser version, the Emblem of Anserisa, which consisted of the former shield of the Principality with the crest of the Empire and devoid of any supporters. It was a way to remember the past and to try establishing a new republic. The emblem also referred to the newly adopted Flag of Anserisa. The election of Auréliano Regulum saw a great institutionalization of patriotism and the adoption of republican symbols and the creation of a republican identity and thus a Congressional Committee was formed to develop a new emblem that would be unique to the republic. The idea for a national seal gained traction and was enacted by a Act of the Congress of the Republic in 1823, making it official. Other governmental institutions followed and adopted seals based on the national seal.
