Gerald Edward Fernsby (2 February 1955 - 17 September 2022) was a Nicholas and Great British politician who served as the Prime Minister of Nicholas and Great Britain and leader of the United Democratic Party from January to May 2022.
Early life
Gerald Fernsby was born on 2 February 1955 in St Ives, Cornwall, Nicholas and Great Britain. His father worked as a headmaster at a private school and his mother worked as a typist. He had an older brother called Godfrey.
Education
Gerald Fernsby was educated in a private school in Cornwall before going to Exeter University to study politics.
Early career
In 1979, Fernsby was conscripted into the army to fight in the Nicholas and Great British Civil War. During this war, he fought against both West Romordian and and Nicholasian rebel forces. Fernsby disapproved of the Treaty of Virje, believing it was unfair how Nicholas and Great Britain was blamed for the war. This led to him joining the Nationalist Party in 1981 before switching to the Socialist Nationalist Party in 1983 due to the Nationalist Party's increasingly fascist ideas. Initially, Fernsby had little success in trying to become a Member of Parliament. He eventually was elected as MP of St Ives in the 1999 general election. However, he would later lose his seat to the Liberal party. In 2009, he would regain his seat.
Prime Minister
New Year's Eve Insurrection
Gerald Fernsby disagreed with Supreme Leader Nicholas McGregor prejudice towards Romordians. When the Lokve massacre took place, Fernsby felt that it was the final straw for him. He and many other MPs, military commanders and other people in positions of power secretly began organising the New Year's Eve Insurrection, which took place in 2021. The insurrection meant McGregor was forced to resign as Supreme Leader. Owen Walsh, the leader of the insurrection, became the new Supreme Leader but changed the title to Prime Minister. He made Gerald Fernsby his deputy Prime Minister. The Socialist Nationalist Party was banned and many MPs that had taken part in the insurrection formed the United Democratic Party.
Changes made
In 2022, there was a general election. The United Democratic Party won with a landslide victory and Fernsby was also elected as the new leader of the party, making him the Prime Minister on 9 January 2022. He soon made Owen Walsh his deputy. On 13 February 2022, Gerald Fernsby and signed the Treaty of Ricubai with President Stella Blanc of Izaakia. During his tenure, Fernsby introduced several new laws aimed at giving Nicholas and Great British citizens more freedoms.
Assassination attempts
On 14 March 2022, Owen Walsh was poisoned by a deadly nerve agent that was in his cup of tea whilst he was with Fernsby. It is widely believed that this poison was meant for Fernsby and that the perpetrators were the NGBSS, which operated outside of government control after the New Year's Eve Insurrection. Walsh died a day later in hospital. During Walsh's funeral on 20 March 2022, there was another assassination attempt. An sniper attempted to shoot Fernsby but a policeman walked into the line of sight just as the trigger was pulled. It was later revealed that the sniper was working for the NGBSS.
Loss of power
On 22 March 2022, Gerald Fernsby, Minister of Finance Blake Merrick and Chief Whip Samuel Litewyn were kidnapped by the NGBSS and were held hostage in an unknown location. The NGBSS said that the three would not be harmed if control of the country was handed to the the previous regime. Logan Shedrick, who had been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister after Owen Walsh's death, became the new acting Prime Minister and refused to hand over control of the country, saying that they would not surrender to terrorists. The next day, the NGBSS announced that Litewyn was dead. On that same day, NGBSS special forces launched a raid on BNP Elford, the prison which held many high ranking officials of the McGregor regime, including Nicholas McGregor himself. On 26 March 2022, Blake Merrick was killed by the NGBSS. Meanwhile, many high ranking members of the armed forces voiced their support of McGregor.
On 5 April 2022, the Izaakian Special Space Service successfully rescued Fernsby from an NGBSS prison in Kalinskia. In a separate operation, the Izaakian Special Air Service rescued Nicholas and Great British government and military figures, including acting Prime Minister Logan Shedrick, as the McGregor, followed by hundreds of supporters, marched towards the Palace of Westminster. A government-in-exile, led by Gerald Fernsby, was hosted in Izaakia.
Death
On 16 September 2022, Gerald Fernsby was taken to New Mako Imperial Hospital, New Mako City, Izaakia in critical condition. The next day, he was pronounced dead. After a police investigation, the cause of death was found to be a nerve agent. The NGBSS were later found to be the perpetrators. However, NGBSS agents left the country before Izaakian police forces were able to detain them.
