Pelinai is a spacefaring nation located in the Shizukana Expanse, in the west of Sector A1-0.

Major Systems & Worlds

  • Shizuka: A central joint in the telecommunications network connecting the Sephirot to the many ships, stations, and facilities residing within the Shizukana Expanse; may also hold some significance to Pelinese religion. Shizuka’s location is classified, and its status as a starless planetary system renders it nearly impossible to locate.
  • Asahikari System: A four-star system consisting of two binary star systems nested in a larger binary orbit, Asahikari is the largest star system in Pelinai by both number of stars and number of planets. The 44 planets in and around Asahikari, along with their many moons, are heavily fortified with both orbital weapons platforms and planetside defense systems. The collection of bodies also hosts a substantial portion of both the Pelinai Space Navy and the Pelinese industrial base. The planet Asahikari 4-7, AKA Haruhana, is a large oceanic world and is one of the most significant garden worlds in Pelinai.
  • Mahōko: Starless planet; major Sephirah datacenter and HPN shipyard. Location classified.
  • Kuroikū system: A black hole system providing much of the raw material for Pelinai’s manufacturing.
  • Umihi system: An A-class star system functioning as a recycling center and storage depot for nano-agent.

Politics

Economy

Fuka is the Sephirah responsible for managing the factories, shipyards, and other production facilities used by the Kingdom of Pelinai, as well as allocating various amounts and types of manufacturing capacity to the other Sephirot. The lack of any population of non-Sephirah sentient beings in Shizukana means that Pelinai has no trade, money, or other “economy” in the traditional sense of the word; instead, the Sephirot place requests for specific ships, stations, and other manufactured items that are then produced by Fuka and transferred to them.

Industry

Most planets and systems in the Shizukana Expanse have some form of industrial presence on them, although the extent of said industrialization varies depending on both geological factors and the allocation of terrestrial land area to other purposes like resource gathering, military basing, and nature preservation. The Asahikari system is the largest single-system collection of industrial capacity in Pelinai, followed by Aohikari, Akataiyō, and Sekiei.

Shipyards

Dedicated shipyards capable of producing spacecraft to military-grade specifications are extremely common in Shizukana’s many Pelinese systems; most ring stations around Pelinese planets and moons have at least one section dedicated to producing ships, and additional facilities may be located planetside or in other orbital stations. Manufacturing the large quantities of ships used for mining, industrial, logistics, military, and other purposes, as well as replacement components for them, constitutes a significant portion of Pelinai’s resource consumption and industrial output.

Spacecraft

Technology

Nano-agent

Pelinese vessels, stations, and other equipment substitute the maintenance and repair functions performed by a living crew or macroscopic maintenance robots with a liquid called nano-agent or Nan-O, which circulates through Pelinese technology and is capable of transporting supplies like fuel and ammunition, mending damaged cables, internal components, and hull plating, and attacking hostile boarding parties. Nan-O also possesses capabilities such as color/transparency modulation and adaptability into pseudo-solid forms mimicking other materials, allowing it to function as a base material for the avatars used by Pelinese Sephirot to interact with foreign lifeforms.
Nan-O is capable of replicating itself on command by consuming and integrating certain types of foreign materials, such as those that commonly comprise lifeforms and those that comprise certain types of planets. Nan-O is sufficiently temperature, radiation, and pH-resilient to replicate unimpeded in most planetary and orbital environments, allowing for it to be used as a weapon of world destruction or a large-scale recycling tool.

Infrastructure

Pelinese-controlled systems commonly possess unusually high degrees of both planetside and orbital infrastructure, and are much more heavily developed than typical systems elsewhere overall.

Planetside

Orbital

Sephirot such as Fuyuhi and Fuka prefer to maintain a heavy station presence around Pelinese-inhabited systems for military, industrial, communications, and other purposes, creating a strong demand for station construction capacity in Pelinai. Smaller communications relays, observation posts, weapons satellites, and other installations are manufactured whole and en masse in order to provide a steady supply of quick-deploy infrastructure; ship docks, heavy weapons platforms, logistics hubs, planetary ring stations, and other larger stations are too massive to be efficiently transported whole and are instead mass-produced in sections to be assembled on-site. Orbital stations, including planetary ring stations, weapons and communications constellations, and other utility stations, are ubiquitous in Pelinai; most planets and moons not used for resource harvesting typically receive at least one ring station and multiple constellations, and core planets like Shizuka possess significantly greater orbital infrastructure.

Stellar

Most Pelinese systems are equipped with some amount of solar collectors around their stars for the purposes of energy production. Core systems with more infrastructure investment are more likely to possess larger satellite megaconstellation complexes used for high-powered computing applications such Sephirah hosting, referred to as matryoshka swarms; these installation complexes are placed around M-class or K-class main sequence stars of the red and orange dwarf classifications due to their relatively small size. Larger matryoshka or Dyson swarm configurations comparable in size and resource requirements to a Dyson sphere have not yet been constructed in Pelinese space.
