The Treecuu Armed Forces, alternatively the Treecuu Military, (Treecuu Common: Treecuu-caath) comprises all military forces of the Treecuu Star Empire as well as the paramilitary Security Forces. There are six separate components that are divided between two separate commands: the Government and the CEE. The Government commands the System Fleets and Planetary Defence Forces which are the components that are responsible for the self-defence of systems and worlds that are not under the direct command of a governor. The CEE commands the Remote Fleets, Mandate Fleets, Marine Corps and the Security Forces which are the components that assert the territorial integrity of the Treecuu national border as well as expand it, and enforce Treecuu rule over subjugated worlds. Units under CEE command also typically conduct exploratory missions.
Compared to most other large star nations in the sector, the Treecuu Armed Forces is very small in terms of personnel, while the number of naval ships is on par. The active force is around 281 million and the reserve is around 160 million and the total number of commissioned ships of at least frigate size is about 42,000. The main reason for the comparatively weak personnel numbers is that the Treecuu doctrines dissuades massive contested planetary invasions.
Military service is voluntary, but all subject species (non-citizens) are barred from serving.
Doctrine
Treecuu doctrines favour mobile and extreme long-range warfare with heavy use of deception and psychological warfare. The Treecuu naval components intend to fight beyond the reach of enemy sensors either through maintaining a great distance to them or by employing cloaking systems. Marines and planetary forces rely on long-range artillery, weapons of mass destruction and flying drones. Should they be overwhelmed, guerilla tactics are to be employed as to bind as much enemy forces as possible until reinforcements can initiate bombardments from afar.
The Treecuu intend to deploy weapons of world destruction on a massive scale, and the doctrine even encourages non-last resort use on Treecuu worlds as a way of deterring enemy landings. The doctrine quotes Admiral Teel, Treecuu Chief of Staff of the Remote Fleets: "No single planet or installation is so important that we should stay and fight for it on our enemy's terms. I rather destroy them".
