The Trianarö Space Force is the military branch of the Trianarö Imperium Forces dedicated to combat, ship or otherwise, in space. Fielding around 1 billion personnel, it enforces Trianar's space claims.

Fleet composition

Each Trianarö fleet is comprised of a number of ships. Trianarö fleets are organized in relation to their purpose. Any number of fleets can be assigned to a "Combined Fleet" led by an admiral.

Fleet rankings

The TSF does not operate fleets like standing units, unlike the Trianarö Planetary Forces or the Izarattiakai of the Trianarö Imperium Church. When there are no anomalies, all fleets are ranked mostly equally, with the only distinction being fleets led by High Captains and Fleet Captains.


In combat scenarios where multiple fleets are fighting together, to prevent cluttered decision-making, the fleets will combine into one unit called a Combined Fleet, which ranks above a fleet. Generally, this will be chosen before combat, but in the case that combat reinforcements are the reason for multiple fleets being combined, the captain of the fleet being reinforced becomes CFC, unless they are incapacitated or there is some other scenario that requires one of the reinforcements to become CFC.


In larger-scale military scenarios such as minor invasions, the TSF may assign an Admiral of the Front, the lowest ranking rank bearing the title Admiral in the TSF. An Admiral of the Front is generally in control of 10~20 fleets and is responsible for the strategic considerations of a single "Battlefront." The exact definition of a battlefront is generally nebulous but is essentially a part of space where one strategic operation is being carried out, that can be overseen by 20 or less fleets.


In extremely large scale military scenarios, the TIF may assign an "Admiral of the Advancing Fleet" (AAF) or an Admiral of the Defending Fleet (ADF.) This will generally occur only during full-scale invasions either by or of Trianar and it is extremely rare for more than one of this rank to exist at the same time. An AAF or ADF is responsible for large-scale strategic considerations of multiple Battlefronts, generally called a Great Front, and will also coordinate more closely with the TPF in the case of planetary combat being needed. AAFs are generally only extremely high-ranking officers who have demonstrated immense practical strategic and tactical skill in fleet combat scenarios across many simulations, war games and real experience.

Doctrine

The TSF employs a wide-range of strategies and tactics, but there are some generalizations that hold true across conflict. TPF ships are, on average, significantly bigger and more sturdy than most ships across star nations in the sector, sacrificing non-FTL maneuverability for extremely sturdy and well-armed ships. This means that, generally, in a situation where the number of ships is equal, the TPF will have a force advantage against most opponents. TPF ships have both long-range and short range capabilities, with kinetic and implosive generally being used for long-range and plasma munitions being deployed at shorter ranges. Long-ranged weapons are also capable of being used at short ranges.


The TPF does not operate traditional aircraft, but uses a mass amount of space drones called Swarmers. Swarmers are USVs which are released en masse by every ship larger than a frigate. Swarmers, while similar to aircraft in design, are very different in practical usage. They exist primarily to obstruct and add chaos to the battlefield, providing cover for corvettes and other ships and forcing the enemy to adapt on Trianarö terms. Swarmers are easily replaced and mass produced, and since they are unmanned they require 0 training. Swarmers are typically only released in middle to close-range.


Unique Technologies

S-Chip system

The S-Chip system is a system managed by Star Control that mandates a chip be placed into every ship built, military, civilian or otherwise. This allows the Trianarö to easily identify friendly military ships and civilian ships can be tracked if stolen by pirates- unidentifiable ships are alien ships. Furthermore, the system gives civilian ships the ability to warp instantly to Gates set up- Some Military ships can also warp to military stations and government-sanctioned areas, however the warp equipment limits their FTL capacity, so ships that can do it are in highly specialized fleets, usually Battleships, Destroyers, and Flagships intended to either reinforce fleets engaged in combat or to provide quick response to regions where there aren't any suitable fleets in the area to respond to a threat.

Swarmers

Swamers are USVs (Unmanned Spacefaring Vehicles) that have two main variants; military and patrol. Military Swarmers are armed heavily with AI systems allowing them to lock on to enemy targets en masse, forcing the enemy to either divert weapons to destroy them or sustain damages to their shields, allowing for the more dangerous starships to wipe them out with superior firepower. Patrol Swarmers (which are officially just called drones but are often colloquially called Patrol Swarmers) are lightly armed but their purpose is not to engage an enemy- it's instead to provide intel on locations of certain ships, including those classified as pirate vessels but also on alien ships.These ones are a bit smaller but with a more extensive AI network allowing the machine to maneuver more quickly and stay out of sight more easily. Due to the cheap nature of swarmers, they are produced massively and are thus extremely disposable, meaning a loss of even hundreds of thousands isn't a severe military loss.

Flagships

Flagships are behemoths of ships armed to the teeth with great technology and sometimes superweapons. A single Flagship is sometimes capable of going toe-to-toe with an entire fleet- armed with Swarmers, sometimes able to deploy corvettes, and provided with extremely powerful layered shield, a Flagship is a floating fortress- destroying one is a mountain of a task and a few Flagships can determine the entirety of a battle.

Ship weaponry

Trianarö starships are armed with all sorts of weaponry made for specific purposes and different weight classes of ship. Generally Trianarö ships are as armed as possible while still being able to effectively perform their roles.

Light weaponry

Light weaponry's purpose is to be cheaper (but still effective) and to not take up much energy for a ship to deploy, allowing more maneuverable ships as more energy can be diverted to engines. Light weaponry also generally has a faster attack rate to wear down enemy shields.

Plasma Cannons

Plasma cannons are regarded as essentially bigger versions of plasma rifles. They fire controlled bursts of plasma at enemy ships, wearing down the enemy ship's shield and forcing them to divert energy away from other things.

Superluminal Missiles

Superluminal Missiles travel at 1-2 LY/h, allowing them to deal damage without using explosives. Their slower speed, however, means that they are generally used at closer range with Corvettes and sometimes fitted onto Swarmers and Frigates. They are also used as anti-drone weapons.

Medium Weaponry

Medium Weaponry is mounted on anything frigate-size and above. The purpose of Medium Weaponry is to actually deal damage to the structure of an enemy ships after their shields are compromised. They can also be used to put more pressure on enemy shields, and shoot at a slower rate than light weaponry, which balances as they do more damage and ideally they wouldn't need to fire as often anyways when targeting the physical structure of a ship.

Cluster Plasma Cannons

Cluster Plasma Cannons are bigger and more numerous then regular ones- they're fired simultaneously, and despite the implication of their name do not cover a wider area but hit in rapid succession around a single targeted area, effectively pummeling the enemy ship with rapid hits. These are also used on some civilian ships (Generally mining or large luxury vessels who may be too big to maneuver safely) to destroy large obstacles.

Hyperluminal missiles

Hyperluiminal missiles usually travel at around 2.5-3 ly/h- They are farther range weapons than Superluminal missiles and are meant for military use only- to hopefully completely destroy a target ship's body, or severely weaken its shields. They are heavily targeted with a slower firing rate. They are the most common weapon employed by the TIFSF.

Implosive missiles

Implosive missiles implode on impact with their target, dealing massive damage to shields or the internal structure of the ship.

Heavy Weaponry

Heavy weaponry fires even more infrequently than medium weaponry but can pack a serious punch, destroying a lightly shielded or unshielded target nearly instantly. These weapons are also used as Weapons of World Destruction due to their extreme power.

Ûfperluminal Missiles

Ûferluminal Missiles travel at 4+ Ly/h. They are much bigger than other missiles and pack a massive punch. They are the most common Heavy weapon on ships.

Beam Plasma Cannons

Beam Plasma cannons fire a powerful beam rather than a single shot of plasma. If it locks on to an enemy target, the results can be devastating and shields can be quickly overrun.

Great Flame

The Great Flame is the name given to a fire-like substance that Daikarn, a Hyperfauna in the Southern Red Nebula use to attack. It is extracted from dead Daikarn. It has strange properties that allow it to burn through metals and burn with no oxygen. This makes it super effective against any ship but next to useless against shields. Whether the Great Flame burns through a ship is dependent on the amount that gets on the metal, as the fire does not burn forever. It is also especially effective against aircraft.
