The Duchy of Paltorina (referred to in Medieval Tarnian texts as Pîltorîna) would be established sometime in the 8th century along the Danube. Dacia was the name of a former civilization in the west of the modern nation. Many of its influences today can still be seen. The Term ''New Dacia'' was first coined in 1422 after the nation of Paltorina established a colonial empire across the Rainbow Islands.

History

Ancient Dacia

The first modern humans came to inhabit the lands now under Dacian territory in around 10,000 BCE, at the same time of the agricultural revolution. The Gáva culture dominated these lands, living along the Western coast of Northwestern Bailtem and the Danube river. In 4000 BCE, People living in Dacia begun migrating across Bailtem, creating many different but culturally/linguistically-related clans, also known as the Tarnese. Stoinia (Pacifica), among other nations, were a result of this migration. microscopic city states and communities would characterize the Bronze age in New Dacia. Excavations across the shores of the Danube show a warlike culture. A weapon that was held crucial to these ancient peoples was the Falx, a weapon that was able to break helmets, shields and sever limbs. This weapon was used all the way into the 15th Century by the Dacians.

The Tarnian tribes of Dacia would unite under the First Dacian Empire around 600 BC. The territories around the Danube aswell as the nearby coast would be under direct rule of this empire, while nearby vassals would be present. This empire dominated Northwestern Bailtem. However, as a century passed, Barbarian raids became more frequent. While some barbarian artifacts were found to be of Rijyk style, most seemed to be coming from the Barbarian tribes in central Bailtem that also similarly affected other Tarnian groups that migrated from Dacia. In 460 BCE, Dacia would collapse, leaving behind a power gap in Northern Bailtem. Local lords commonly went to war over each other.

Dacian Dark Ages

After the collapse of the First Dacian Empire, Dacia went into a dark age, as no singular power would manage to rule the region. This led to multiple tribes from Central Bailtem settling in the area, which would lead to 5-15% of the modern Dacian language being words from these migrator tribes. The city of Czarigrad itself became a small duchy of its own, being the only sign of actual society in the whole region. Czarigrad would also become a sacred religious site for Orthodox Christians, due to its deep history and connection with Christianity along with its spiritual population. The Duchy would slowly expand along the Danube over the centuries, eventually reforming into the Duchy of Paltorina.

Medieval Dacia

The Duchy of Paltorina (referred to in Medieval Tarnian texts as Pîltorîna) would be established sometime in the 8th century along the Danube. The local tribes would adopt Orthodox Christianity around this time, giving way to increased bonds among both Tribal and Feudal Dacian societies. Many wars between local lords would strengthen Paltorina they expanded around the Danube. This instability paved the way to Paltorina's expansion leading to the subjugation of the whole region. In the 14th Century, Prince Eliot Starabab had united all of the Dacian-speaking lands of the Northwestern tip of Bailtem, marrying off family members and integrating those in personal unions. His succesor, Mircea, would go to the northernmost tips of Bailtem, subjugating the local Aegean population. In the 15th century, Dacia would begin expanding inland into the rainforests and down the Danube, aswell as establishing holdings across the Eastern Rainbow Islands. In 1422, The Empire of New Dacia would be established, and the Imperial Era would begin.
