Milayakh is a subregion of the continent of Bailtem, generally considered to encompass the territories of modern Jazeera, Livana, Myria, and Pelinai.

The geography and climate of Milayakh broadly match that of the South Bailtemmic Plain to the north and west; most terrain consists of temperate plains and forests, with the addition of marshlands in the Marahu River Delta and alpine weather in the Yukisora Mountains.

The region has been notable in the broader Mediterranean region since antiquity, due primarily to trade- and colonization-oriented Milayakhi empires like Phaloecia and the Kingdom of Arcana.

Etymology

Geography

Milayakh exists on the southern and eastern margins of the South Bailtemmic Plain, with most of its continental terrain consisting of flat plains and forests interspersed with mountain chains of varying size. Notable features include the Yukisora Mountains in its eastern arm, the Seiko Sea to its southeast, and the islands of the Idrisid, Bani Musa, and Livana chains.

The largest mountain chain in Milayakh is the Yukisora Mountains of the east, with smaller ranges existing on the Myro-Ezervulgish border to the west and the Jazeeran peninsula in the center.

Climate

The climate of Milayakh varies with altitude; lower regions possess a uniform humid subtropical climate, while sections of the Yukisora Mountains may be subtropical highland or alpine in nature.

History

Economy

Milayakh is a moderately developed region relative to the wider Mediterranean, comparing favorably with most Barelandic nations but lagging behind the historically rich Rastilia to the west. Its total nominal GDP was roughly $7.0 trillion in 2022, and its average nominal GDP/capita was roughly $39,000. Its primary economic sectors are tourism, heavy industry (particularly shipbuilding), and agriculture.

Shipbuilding

Civilian and military shipbuilding industries form a major component of the wider Milayakhi economy, especially in the nations of Myria and Pelinai.
