The league comprises 10 teams. The league previously counted 12 teams until 2006.
The regular season starts on 9 June and ends 31 June, with each team facing each other only one before heading into the final. All teams are divided into two divisions, East and West, with the 4 best of each division facing in the championship which concludes with the match against the best team from each division for the Princio-Stéphano I Trophy.
Competition format
Teams
There are 10 teams competing in the Anserisan Football League, all of which were founding members of the league. Two teams were originally members of the league but folded for financial reasons. The Gubernata Astronauts and the Libério Princes folded in 2006. Only one team changed its name, the Chevrona Regiment became the Chevrona Red-Blacks in 2009.
The teams are not divided by islands but rather by geography which makes that all team have to travel between the islands. This was made to ensure that the teams on the most populous Branta Island would receive equal conditions as those from the other islands.
