The Airports of Anserisa are one of the main infrastructure of transportation owned and operated by the Government of Anserisa and one of the main infrastructures to get to and from Anserisa.
The first airport to be developed was the Princia-Geneva—Brantavilla International Airport, located on the outskirts of the capital Brantavilla. Other airports were developed after, first at the two major cities on the other islands and finally the other airports. Only one airport has no paved road, consisting only of gravel, the Potissima Municipal Airport.
All the airports in Anserisa are owned and operated by the Government of Anserisa. Airlines are the main source of revenue for the airports and all the airports are profitable, even the municipal ones which are only staffed for some days of the weeks and not full-time like the international or national airports.
It is forbidden to fly commercial planes near major population centres during the night, between 1:00am and 5:00am local time. This has led to some interpretation with commercial planes being authorized to fly out of Vexilla-Opuso National Airport, in the direction of Vexilla, while Opuso is a small village of 900 people, Vexilla is a city of 60 000 people. Since the incident, many airports stopped authorizing commercial planes to fly at night but allow small aircrafts to fly regional routes within the country.
National Airport System
The National Airport System is the national classification made by the Secretariat of Air Transportation to classified the airports.
International Airports
To be classified as an international airport, the airport must qualify with having a minimum of two runways of sufficient length to accommodate wide-body aircrafts. To this date, only one airport qualifies for the certification. Plans to expand the runway of the Vexilla-Opuso National Airport have been discussed, especially because of the tourism industry located on Rubecula Island.
National Airports
To be classified as an national airport, the airport must meet the requirements of being able to handle high traffic of planes, have a runway of sufficient length to accommodate wide-body aircrafts and to be located near a population centre of more than 20 000 people. To this date, only two airports qualifies for the certification. The Chevrona Regional Airport is one of the other airports that could qualify for such certification.
Municipal Airports
All other airports that can accommodate small-body aircrafts are classified as being municipal airports. The Chevrona Regional Airport, despite its name is a municipal airport. There is only one airport that is classified as a municipal airport that cannot accommodate modern planes and it is the Potissima Municipal Airport, because of its gravel runway. Plans to build a new airport, especially near the much larger municipality of Libério are being examined.
