The elections of Anserisa occur every two years in Anserisa because of the two-year terms in the National Convention, thus through the age, the leadership of political parties has been concentrated into the hands of the leaders of political parties in the National Convention. Thus, on the elections pages, the candidates for Representatives are shown first.

There are also local elections for the cities, towns and villages of Anserisa. Municipal Councils and Council Leaders are elected for mandates of four years, on the same years as the end of the mandate of the President.

Electoral calendar

  • Leadership Nominations 12th April (50 days before Election Day)
Moment when political parties announces their nominations for leadership, often known in advance, it is still a major event and the unofficial start of the electoral campaign.
  • Elections Start 2nd May (30 days before Election Day)
Moment when the official campaign begins, major candidates are known, it is the formal and official start of the electoral campaign.
  • Party Lists Submissions 15th May (17 days before Election Day)
Moment when political parties have the Constitutional obligation to submit the candidates lists.
  • ALA National Debate 20th May (12 days before Election Day)
Moment when the national debate between the political parties happens. It is a recent tradition beginning at the 1978 Election.
  • Democratic Equality Day 30th May (2 days before Election Day)
Moment when political parties are offered a free national platform for their message. Coordinated by the ALA.
  • Election Day 1st June (Election Day)
Moment when political parties are forbidden from running any campaign publicity anywhere. Election night follows on ALA-1.

Types of elections

It is generally recognized that there are 4 types of elections in Anserisa. Ordinary, General, Major and Super elections.

Ordinary elections

They are generally the elections where only the members of the National Convention of Anserisa are to be elected. There have been 103 ordinary elections since 1815, the next one is scheduled for 2022.

General elections

They are generally the elections where only the members of the Congress of the Republic are to be elected, meaning that both the members of the Council of Regions and the members of the National Convention of Anserisa are to be elected. There have been 35 general elections since 1815, the next one is scheduled for 2026.

Major elections

They are generally the elections where the election of the members of the Congress of the Republic is happening at the same time as the end of a term for the President. There have been 15 major elections since 1815, the next one is scheduled for 2026.

Super elections

They are generally the elections where all the mandates of the office holders are coming to an end. That means that the members of both houses of the Congress of the Republic are to be elected, the term of a President is ending and the term of the members of the Supreme Court is also coming to an end. This means that the entire government is to be elected directly or indirectly from this election. There have been only 4 super elections since 1815, the next one is scheduled for 2026.

Local elections

Local elections occur in cities, towns and villages every 4 years, the same year as Presidential elections. Municipal Councils and Council Leaders are the elected officials of municipalities.
