The politics of Anserisa function within a framework of parliamentary democracy with strong democratic traditions. Anserisa is a republic, in which the President is both head of state and head of government. The executive powers are directed by the Republican Commission, a committee of Commissioners responsible to the elected Congress of the Republic and chosen and headed by the President, himself nominated by the Congress and with all nominations approved by the upper house of the Congress, the Council of Regions.

Anserisa is described as a "full democracy", with a tradition of socialism, and an emphasis on non-discrimination policies, which has been a distinguishing element of Anserisa's political culture. Anserisa has placed emphasis on equality and inclusiveness for all its people.[1]

The country has a multi-party system and all of its legislative practices derive from the Constitution of Anserisa and all the laws adopted by the Congress that modifies the conditions of politics in Anserisa. Originally two political parties have dominated the politics in Anserisa, the Republican Alliance of Anserisa and the Conservative Coalition of Anserisa until 1946, when the Socialist Union of Anserisa became the third major political party in Anserisa and has dominated the politics since. The Republican Alliance has ruled the nation for 118 years, the Conservative Coalition for 24 years since 1815 and the Socialist Union for 54 years since 1946.

Anserisa has developed strong democratic principles, the party discipline is not enforced but generally respected, and multi-partisan initiatives are common.
