History
The Socialist Union was founded in 1919 following a similar trend as other South Pacific nations of socialist and communists parties. Founded originally as the Social-Democratic Party, the party fused in 1937 with the Popular Worker's Front and the Liberal League to form the Socialist Union. Considered to be a marginal party, the Socialist Union gained traction in the subsequent elections culminating with a Presidential victory in the election of 1946.
First President
Martino Gallum became the first socialist President in 1946 and started a near-50 years long reign of the Socialist Union.
