Roleplay in the South Pacific is divided into in the three canons: Pacifica, Sector A1-0 and Aurora, as well as extra-canon events and Knowhere.
Roleplay in TSP is conducted in two main places: the Regional forums and this very wiki! People claim their plots on one of the three rp maps and get to rp an entire nation. RP in general is conducted in two main ways: Storylines, involving specific characters and events in IC posts, and worldbuilding, which focuses less on characters and more on objective reality and statistics. There are also two very important distinctions to make:
IC/OOC (In Character / Out Of Character) distinction: whether something is being said in or out of character. In character, someone's nation may be a cruel, nationalist and racist empire. This does not reflect the opinions of what the Rper behind the nation believes is right; generally, such nations are necessary to provide conflict and intrigue to the ongoing narrative.
Canon/Not Canon distinction: Whether something is "canon." Canon means that it is considered to actually have happened in the canon. The most common usage of this is making jokes about one's nation on the Discord. Do not feel threatened if anything likes this. Remember: Anything not on this wiki or the regional forums is considered not canon! This also applies to extra-canon events. Just because your nation went to war in a what-if scenario does not mean that this sentiment is transferred over to the main canon.
There are also some important rules to consider for all canons regarding roleplay.
Consent is key. You can not do anything to anyone's nation without permission, and vice versa. This includes having agents, starting wars, having trade, or having their territory in pre-history. Any instance of this should be disregarded as not canon.
Threadmaker is King. If the maker of a thread in the forums (or page on the wiki) asks for a certain type of courtesy (such as not posting ooc comments in an IC thread, keeping conversation to the topic of the thread, or not editing a wiki page without permission, Adhere to it. It doesn't matter if you don't think it's right; It's not your thread.
Roleplay is collaborative. This means that you aren't the maker of the canon. It's not your place to rule about other people's worldbuilding or writing, or about the rules of the canon. Suggestions, Constructive criticism and comments are welcome, but do not try to change other's nations or the rules of a canon to your liking.
Community-owned is the whole community. certain canons have NPNs (Non-Player-Nations). You can not use these nations in your rp or worldbuilding willy-nilly, however. Small things like trade deals are fine, but things like war, territorial shifts, historic worldbuilding, alliances and other major parts of NPNs should not be changed or occur without the consent of the community at large.
Canons
Pacifica
See also: Pacifica on the forums, Pacifica on TSPedia Pacifica is modern day roleplay canon of TSPRP, and is the most popular of the three by number of roleplayers. Its universe is set in a region of the Earth-like planet Pacifica, which mirrors RL technological development and offers a realism-oriented setting for roleplays about RL-like history and geopolitics.
The Pacifica canon is the modern-day roleplay canon of TSPRP, and the oldest of the current 3. It follows modern dates and levels of technology, and features real-world religions, ideologies, and languages, but has a separate universe and does not use Earth’s geography or history. The active map area is the South Pacific, a region in the southern hemisphere of Pacifica around the prime meridian.
Roleplay in the Pacifica canon is more grounded and realism-focused than the other two canons and Knowhere. The most influential and established historical event of the canon is the Great War, an enormous region-spanning military conflict from 1949 to 1955 which involved most of the canon’s great powers, brought the development of nuclear weapons in 1955, and played a significant role in many nations’ histories. Other major events occurring more recently IC include the establishment of the World Forum as a peace-promoting international organization in 2017 and the Reizen Civil War from 2017 to 2022.
Stoinia, short for its official name the Kingdom of Stoina, is a sovereign monarchy spanning across the South Pacific Ocean from southwestern Bailtem (also called Metropolitan Stoinia) to eastern central Cordilia in Corinia (often also referred to as Cordilian Stoinia) as well as maintaining a dominant presence in the Central Islands through its control of Carraca. On Metropolitan Stoinia, the Kingdom is bordered by Sallodesia in the north and in the south by Sedunn and Ezervulge and enjoys a lush subtropical climate surrounding the Varcathians. On the Central Islands it enjoys a year-round tropical climate with fellow oceanic nations such as Pētea and Takāhi while Cordilian Stoinia is split between humid subtropical and warm Mediterranean climates with its neighbours of Valkyria and Huawan in the vicinity. In total, the Kingdom holds a total area of 181,750 km2 and a population of 57 million (as of 2022). The Kingdom is a unique form of a devolved unitary parliamentary semi-constitutional monarchy wherein autonomous regions hold a relative amount of power besides the King who enjoys significant, although still limited, powers compared to other constitutional counterparts. Its capital is the city of Sinaia in the Siniliu Valley which serves as the political centre. Its largest city is the metropolis of Carao which houses roughly a fifth of the population in the Shai Kong Special Economic Zone in Corinia. Additionally, there are multiple highly developed cities, having evolved from the various ethnicities within Stoinia, that serve as cultural and commercial centres such as Carreño, Milano, Coruña, Tavira, Costina, Saverno, Tianjin, and Taranto. Furthermore, Stoinia also has exclaves of considerable size neighbouring Koros and Ikaranara in northern Cordilia.
Stoinia first emerged as a unified nation at the end of the Mediterranean Iron Age roughly 1000 BC. Under the Tolosan Republic, the Latin-speaking Tolosans formed a sophisticated merchant republic with advanced laws and thriving commerce. It formed key partnerships with the Dures, Livanan polities and the Phaloecian Thalassocracy across the Mediterranean Sea. It also formed colonies on the uninhabited coasts around the Mediterranean Sea in locations of modern-day Spiras, Livana, Eria, Pelinai and Rekhivan client cities. Through a vast trade network with fellow mercantile civilisations, the Tolosan Republic reached historical heights. However, the Tolosan Republic would meet its end at the hands of the Ezervulgish nomads which sacked all cities of the Republic before settling in their current lands, though many overseas colonies would continue to become their own free states such as Spiras, Eria, Livana and mercantile republics in Pelinai.
In the Middle Ages, the Tolosan successor kingdoms largely fought amongst themselves for power until the unification by King Alexandru of Sinarion in 1222 AD. Consolidating the various post-Tolosan ethnicities under a new 'Stoinian' ethnostate where He was crowned 'King of the Stoinians'. Once the rebuilding efforts had been completed, the following KingIoan I funded the seafaring expedition of Ioan Caragiu which led to the discovery of the Garāori on Carraca in the South Pacific Ocean in 1261 AD. Pelograd (Pelinese: ペログラダ, Perogurada; Stelossian: Пелоград) is the capital and second most populous city of Pelinai, situated on the southwestern edge of Stelossia bordering the Mediterranean Sea. It is administered as a federal city separate from the rest of Stelossia.
The first significant urban settlement in the Pelograd area was established circa 19 BC, when the settlement of Chorpeska was established by the southwestern Chorekite kingdom of Yugorod as a border outpost near the Marahic kingdoms to the west. It reached status as a major population center by 126 AD, when it was recorded as the capital of the Kerekite Empire; later, during the early medieval era, it became an administrative center for the southeasternmost holdings of the Loshkar Dakaraltsate. Following the unification of the medieval Kingdom of Stelossia in 1397, it was reincorporated under Chorekic rule and became the primary seaport for maritime commerce with other states bordering the Mediterranean Sea. Chorpeska was renamed to Pelograd and converted into the capital of the new Kingdom of Pelinai in 1783, superseding Korolyeviya; it retained this status under the Socialist Republic of Belogora under the name Belograd between 1975 and 1982. The city was spared from the large-scale destruction visited on cities such as Korolyeviya and Letograd during the Pelinese Civil War by the surrender of the communist government in October 1982, which saw the name of Pelograd restored to usage and the new Provisional Government placed into power.
Pelograd possesses significant political, economic, and cultural significance in Pelinai, and is one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities as of 2024. The city is home to numerous major financial and commercial assets such as Pelograd Harbor and the State Energy Resources Exchange; along with Tsugunare and Letograd, it is also one of the three major shipping hubs handling most of Pelinai’s maritime trade with western countries. The federal city and its metropolitan area contain the headquarters buildings for 17 of Pelinai’s 100 largest companies as well as 3 of its major keiretsu banks. Major research universities situated in or near the city include Pelograd Federal University, Stelossia Regional University, and East Mediterranean University. International institutions partially or fully headquartered in Pelograd include the Bailtemmic Commission of the Bailtemmic Cooperation Organization and the Bailtemmic Infrastructure Investment Bank. The World Forum (WF) is an international organisation created to facilitate multilateral discussion and agreements, and to serve as a channel to consolidate separate resources in times of great need. Its member states work together to foster social, economic, and environmental development.
The constitutive document of the WF was drafted in a global conference in Grovne, Sedunn in March 2017. The charter has been ratified by 298 nations, which are thereby considered members of the World Forum and have a seat in the Assembly. Six more nations are considered observers of the World Forum and may speak at meetings of the Assembly also. To assist the Assembly, there are five special committees and the International Court. The Assembly has its seat in the World Forum Headquarters in Grovne, Sedunn. (Full article...)
After the colonisation of Frastinia between 45,000 and 15,000 BCE, several civilisations developed in the area called "X-Frastinia" nowadays. The first records of a Gianlucian tribe date back to the 8th century CE. Through conquest and displacements of several people, the Alman culture spread from extended Frastinian region to several locations throughout the South Pacific. On 1 June 1305 the Gianlucian Kingdom was founded and evolved to become a colonial empire, at times on par with other colonists such as the Austral Empire, the Denvari or Stoinia. Independence movements and the industrialisation led to the fall of the empire until the early 20th century, which laid the foundation for the rise of Meinhard Frank, who established a brutal dictatorship with himself at its center and was responsible for several million dead people and multiple war crimes committed by the Gianlucians during the Great War. After the surrender of the Gianlucians to the Allies in 1954, the country became a largely pacifist and democratic power within Pacifica, which took responsiblity for its historic crimes and participated in the foundation of several organisations such as the World Forum or the Concordia Entente. Nowadays, the country promotes universal human rights, the acceptance and execution of international law globally and it aims for a pacifica-wide green transformation of society and the prohibition of nuclear weapons.
